Updated Road Casualty Figures Released by Department of Transport

It has been reported that on British roads in 2012, the number of casualties and furthermore overall road deaths fell  by 8%.

It's news that's likely to please road safety campaigners, however it is slightly undermined by the fact that cyclist deaths actually rose by 10% over the same period. It has brought calls from cycling charities and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents to increase driver awareness of cyclists, increase cyclist training and their overall presence on the road in order to make drivers more alert to the needs of other road users.
